Mucosal Immunology

The 2015 AAVI mini-symposium at 2015 CRWAD, Chicago IL, will be held on Monday December 7 at 1:45 – 4:15pm. The mini-symposium focuses on the importance and significance of mucosal immunology in food animal species in designing novel intervention strategies against pathogens.

 

Confirmed Speakers Include:

  1. Christopher Chase, South Dakota State University, title “Mucosal Immunology: Microbial Interaction, Stress and Cytokine Production.”
  2. Oriol Sunyer, University of Pennsylvania, title “An essential role of IGT for pathogen clearance and microbiome homeostasis at mucosal surfaces of fish.”
  3. Randy Sacco, National Animal Disease Center at Ames Iowa, title “Inflammatory mediator expression in lung epithelial cells and α/β T cells: roles in immunopathogenesis associated with respiratory syncytial virus infection in calves.”
  4. Michael Wannemuehler, Iowa State University, title “From Swine Dysentery to Inflammatory Bowel diseases: Role of the Resident Microbiota in Tuning the Host Response.”

 

2015 AAVI Student Presentation Competition at CRWAD

The 2015 AAVI Student Presentation Competition will again be sponsored by AAI during the 96th annual meeting of CRWAD, December 6-8 in Chicago, Illinois. Oral and poster presentation categories will be judged.

The first, second and third place presenters in both categories will be announced at the awards ceremony at the end of the meeting, please attend and be recognized.

Awards for the best student oral presentations will be $500, $250 and $100, and for poster presentation $350, $150 and $75 for first, second and third place, respectively. All awardees will be offered AAVI and AAI membership.

Poster, 3rd Place: H. Sun, University of Nebraska-Lincoln

 

Please note: entry into the AAVI Student Presentation Competition at CRWAD requires the student and/or mentor to be an AAVI member in good standing (as defined by dues paid in the last 3 years).

 

Judges Needed for Student Presentation Competition

If you would like to contribute as a judge on the AAVI student awards committee at CRWAD over oral or poster presentations please contact me (gourapura.1@osu.edu). At least three judges are assigned to judge each contestant, and the three presentations in each category earning the highest overall scores capture the awards.
